Drinking: Dogfish Head's Midas Touch

by kallardnyc March 27, 2009

I love this brew.  Very malty with notes of honey and a little bit of that Muscat grape.  I still to this day do not get any Saffron in this elixir.  Very drinkable and at 9%ABV it is a crowd favorite.

Drinking: Founders KBS "A Stout Ale"

by kallardnyc March 20, 2009

In a word… Different.  Is it stout?  Is it ale?  It is a bit of both.  It has an overwhelming coffee aroma and taste.  This what the stout is about.  The finish?  This is the ale.  A nice hoppy bitterness on the back end.

It pours like well used motor oil and slaps you in the face with coffee the minute it hits the bottom of the tulip.  No head to speak off at all and no lacing what-so-ever, thanks to the 11.5 ABV.

It is aged in used Bourbon barrels but I would not be able to tell without someone informing me.  There is no residual Bourbon aroma or taste in this liquid at all.  I don’t miss it though.  I do not think it would meld well with the coffee profile.

I like this.  I would drink it again.  But as for now, let me get back to the series finale of Battlestar Galactica.

Roomba: Why is it considered lazy?

by kallardnyc March 14, 2009

I just had a small tweetversation with a couple of my tweeps about how lazy it is to use a Roomba to clean your floors.  I of course do not see this as being lazy, here’s why…

  • We use our self cleaning oven cycle instead of Easy Off and Scotch brite
  • We use our toaster instead of building a fire and doing it by hand
  • We use our washing machines instead of a rock and soap by hand
  • We use our dishwashers instead of getting dishpan hands
  • We use our cars instead of walking
  • Some people use electric razors instead of a blade
  • Some people use electric toothbrushes instead of the old Reach
  • We use our microwaves instead of firing up the oven
  • We fire up the oven instead of making a camp fire

I am sure there are 100’s more. Leave a comment if have some examples to add or to just tell me I am a lazy shit.

I am a beer brat. A beer geek. A beer connoisseur. And I hate corporate beer. I think it tastes like shit. It is uncreative, uninspiring … and flavorless. Period. End of story.” Ashley Routson aka The Beer Wench

@mmwine Seeing Matt’s Jasmine made me think of this song. Type O Negative version is the best.

First off let me say thanks to Twitter Taste Live, Dogfish Head and Ashley Routson aka. The Beer Wench for giving all the opportunity to once again come together on the interweb and get shitfaced.

Here is a link to her most excellent rundown on what we drank that night.

And here are some of my pictures from the night, and one of the next morning. J/K ;)

This is what ABV’s of 10, 12 and 18 percent will do to you.
